Die Verkleidung des Stiegenhauses der Wohnhausanlage Lorystrasse 122 in Wien Simmering mit einem Textgitter aus lasergeschnittenem Aluminium ist sowohl künstlerische Intervention als auch technisch und baurechtlich nötige Wetterschutzfassade mit einer Flächenabdeckung von ca. 48%.

Mit der Wiedergabe eines einfachen und verbreiteten Kochrezepts (klassische Krautfleckerl) thematisiert die Installation auf humorvolle Weise die Bedeutung des Alltags.

Das Rezept entspricht den Ernährungsvorschriften gängiger
Weltanschauungen und Religionen und ist fleischlos.

Die Überraschung, die der aufmerksame Passant erfährt, ist zweiteilig: erst die, im unvertrauten Schriftbild Lesbarkeit zu entdecken, dann jene über seinen alltäglichen Inhalt.

Das Projekt ist auf Einladung von Architekt Dominik Hennecke zustandegekommen.




The cladding for the stairwell of the Lorystrasse 122 housing complex in Vienna-Simmering provides 48% surface coverage with bars of lettering made of laser-cut aluminium, both as an artistic intervention and to meet the building regulations' technical stipulations for weatherproofing.

By repeating a simple and popular local recipe (Krautfleckerl — cabbage and pasta), the installation applies humour to engage with the significance of the simple things in life.

The version of the recipe used is without meat, so following the nutritional guidelines of most popular philosophies and religions.

The surprise experienced by the observant passer-by comes in two parts: First is the discovery that the unfamiliar-looking layout is actually legible, then comes the content which celebrates everyday life.

The project was initiated on the invitation of architect Dominik Hennecke.
